Frequently Asked Questions
We work with three types of clients: developers building energy and infrastructure projects, operators running assets and navigating growth, and investors deploying capital into these sectors. Our clients range from venture-backed SMR companies to established midstream operators to private equity firms evaluating energy assets. We're particularly active with nuclear technology companies, oil & gas operators across the Gulf Coast and Permian, data center developers, and defense contractors.
We also advise startups when we see a clear fit, companies where our dynamism and hands-on approach can make a meaningful difference at a formative stage. And from time to time, we advise governments in unofficial capacities when our expertise is needed on matters of energy security, critical infrastructure, or emerging technology.
Three things. First, we're sector-focused: we only work in energy, infrastructure, and adjacent industries, which means deeper expertise and better pattern recognition than generalist firms. Second, we invest our own capital: through Administratum Capital Partners, we deploy permanent capital alongside our advisory clients, aligning our interests and deepening our commitment. Third, we're execution-oriented: we don't deliver slide decks and walk away. We stay engaged through implementation, whether that's navigating NRC authorization or closing a transaction.
We structure work in four categories: Strategic advisory (market entry, competitive positioning, growth strategy), Transaction support (buy-side and sell-side M&A, due diligence, valuation), Project development (site selection, feasibility, regulatory strategy), and Special situations (crisis response, turnarounds, time-critical decisions). Engagements range from focused 4-6 week projects to multi-year advisory relationships.
Yes. We work with companies at all stages, from pre-revenue startups developing advanced reactor technology to established operators with billions in assets. For earlier-stage companies, we often focus on commercialization strategy, regulatory positioning, and investor readiness. The common thread is that our clients are building or operating in consequential industries, not their stage of development.
The Orbital Research Branch is our internal research and intelligence capability. We use AI-augmented methods to produce proprietary analysis on energy markets, infrastructure economics, regulatory dynamics, and geopolitics. This isn't a separate service we sell. It's the analytical engine that powers our advisory work. It means we can deliver feasibility assessments, market research, and competitive intelligence faster and with more depth than traditional approaches.
Our primary focus is the United States, with deep expertise in Texas, the Gulf Coast, and regions with significant energy and infrastructure activity. Southeast Asia is our key secondary market, where we have active engagements across the region in energy development, infrastructure investment, and market entry strategy. Latin America is a tertiary focus, particularly Mexico and South America for oil & gas and infrastructure opportunities.
That said, our capabilities aren't geographically constrained. Across our advisory services, we have advised clients globally, particularly for nuclear work, where advanced reactor deployment is international by nature.
Most engagements start with a conversation to understand your situation and objectives. From there, we scope work collaboratively, defining deliverables, timeline, and team composition. We're direct about whether we're the right fit; if we're not, we'll tell you. For transaction work, we typically execute an engagement letter. For advisory work, we often start with a focused initial phase before expanding scope.
